The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of China's traditional festivals and is one of the most important and grandest festivals of the year. On this day, it is characterized by the bright moon and family reunions, carrying people's endless thoughts and beautiful blessings.

The fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month is our traditional festival, the Mid-Autumn Festival, which is one of the four major traditional festivals of the Han Chinese, along with the Spring Festival, Dragon Boat Festival, and Qingming Festival. According to historical records, ancient emperors had rituals for worshiping the sun in spring and the moon in autumn, with the moon worship ritual occurring on the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month, coinciding with the middle of autumn, hence the name 'Mid-Autumn Festival'; also because this festival occurs in the autumn month of August, it is also called 'Autumn Festival', 'August Festival', 'August Gathering', and 'Mid-Autumn Festival'; due to the belief in seeking reunion and related customs, it is also called 'Reunion Festival' and 'Daughter's Festival'. Since the main activities of the Mid-Autumn Festival revolve around the 'moon', it is also commonly referred to as 'Moon Festival', 'Moon Evening', 'Chasing the Moon Festival', 'Playing with the Moon Festival', and 'Worshiping the Moon Festival'; in the Tang Dynasty, the Mid-Autumn Festival was also called 'Zhengyue'. There are roughly three origins of the Mid-Autumn Festival: the ancient worship of the moon, the custom of singing and dancing under the moon to seek partners, and the ancient custom of offering sacrifices to the land god in autumn.
